1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like? I love working with any animal fiber, mercerized cotton is nice but not my first choice. I don’t really have a favorite yarn, but I do love my Silky Wool and just about every sock yarn I’ve used. As far as fibers I don’t like working with, I am not fond of synthetic fibers - I don’t care for the way they feel or their non-stretchy nature.

2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in? I have a Circular Solutions circular needle holder and also their DPN holder. I’m not thrilled with them but they’re not obnoxious enough that I’m actively looking for alternates. Alternates *are* welcome, though!

3. How long have you been knitting? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced? I learned to knit when I was a child, but never really got into it. I picked it up again in 2000, I believe, and have been going strong ever since. I consider my skill level to be advanced, though I mainly choose simple projects due to lack of time and concentration.

4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list? Yes, email me for details.

5. What’s your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.) I do not use scented items - I’m sensitive to perfumes.

6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy? Oh yeah, I have a sweet tooth! I love dark chocolate and wintergreen Life Savers (not together!)

7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin? Aside from knitting, I also spin and sew. I can crochet and weave, but do not do either much.

8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD) I like a wide range of music, it’s very difficult to categorize my tastes. Some of the genres I enjoy include rock/alternative/indie bands, bluegrass, classical, jazz. If you look at the playlist for The Current, that’s a good representation of what I listen to.

9. What’s your favorite color? Or–do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can’t stand? I find myself wearing lots of red, green, orange, and black, mainly in darker tones. I don’t wear purple, pink, blue, yellow, or any pastels - they don’t go well with my coloring at all.

10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets? Married with two kids (3 and 1), we have four cats.

11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos? Yes, yes, yes, and no.

12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit? Socks, wool soakers (for diaper covers), and children’s sweaters.

13. What are you knitting right now? Socks, a sweater, and a scarf.

14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts? Yes!

15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic? I prefer circulars in bamboo or Addi Turbos.

16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift? Yes, both.

17. How did you learn to knit? I was taught as a child and re-taught myself from a book as an adult.

18. How old is your oldest UFO? 5-6 years, I imagine.

19. What is your favorite holiday? That’s a tough one. I guess Thanksgiving and July 4 are pretty much tied. Not so much for what they represent, but because they’re times when we get together with family.

20. Is there anything that you collect? Dust? I have a few old patent medicine bottles around the house, but I wouldn’t qualify it as a collection. I tend to save my acquisition energy for things that get turned into other things - yarn, fiber, fabric, food.

21. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have? I’m looking forward to getting my hands on Big Girl Knits, as well as the Mason-Dixon book, the Yarn Harlot’s lastest, and several others. They’re all on my wish list if you care to look at it.

22. Are there any new techniques you’d like to learn? Not at this time - I’m pretty happy with my skill set right now.

23. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements? Yes, I am! My foot measurements are 10″ long and 10″ around.
